random things.

sha sha has returned to singapore!
the house feels empty.
it is just back to desmond and me.
life goes back to normal, the daily routine starts yet again.

i went for run today with sticky.
and as i was running,
this middle aged lady commented "you are going to give a dog a heart attack"
she said it with a disapproving look.
in that moment, i wanted to comment back 'shut your trap, you old hag'.
but i thought it was kinda rude, and that i should not stoop to her level.

i am a person who is highly critical and quick to judge.
i am thinking now, maybe looking from her point of view, she might be an animal lover, who has her own set of beliefs when it comes to exercising with dogs.
i shudder thinking about the next time i bump into her.
i have seen her twice. the first time she muttered something which i could not catch.
the second encounter was today.
i wonder what she will say the next time i see her. and i wonder how i would react.
i think the "asian" in me will just keep silent and complain later. haha.

i have found my favourite coffee place. MR TULK.
i have immersed and adapted easily to the coffee culture in melbourne.
i hate to say this, but i only visited starbucks once, and that was because i had a craving for green tea frap. In singapore, i used to patronise starbucks all the time, and mostly i would order a flavoured coffee.
now that i am here in melbourne(coffee heaven), i drink lattes all the time.
it taste superbly heavenly, awesome.
most places in fact serve decent coffee, such that i don't have to resort to starbucks at all, who some might exclaim, fantastic!

strange. i got a huge craving for tiramisu.

time is running out

The ageing superhero in me is tired
Because he's lived too fast for too long
and he still longs to be inspired.

i have been to NZ before, and i know that it is boring.
but i can't help it.
somehow i am lured by the themes in the video-carefree, romance, fantasy, adventure.
thats what travelling is all about.

it is the F1 season in melbourne! i can hear the cars zooming around.

multi tasking

i am suppose to be working hard on my assignment.

but there seems to be an overload of information avaliable.
everytime i have an essay assignment to do, my surroundings, in this case my room, will look like it got hit by a hurricane.
but i like the look of it, cause it makes me feel less guilty about not working diligently.

Serene has left me for the arms of her loved one back in Singapore.
wished we could have spent more time together. well, there is always time at the end of the year to catch up and party.

back to work! signing out.

i was unable to update cause we have used up our download quota for the month.

the thing with australia is that unlike in singapore where you pay for faster internet connection and can download as much as you much, here you pay for faster internet connection as well as how much of quota you can download. so i got to be selective.

i am so much more busy with the arrival of sha sha and serene. though ser is leaving later tonight. trying to balance out playing a good host and catching up on my work as well. forgive me girls for not being able to entertained much! ha. but it is nice having familiar faces around.

i did managed to do a trip with serene up to mount dandedong for a couple of hours. it was a gloomy day and cold as well. but well, nothing is going to stop us from our lovely scones at miss marples tea room. it was lunch time so the little cottage was busy, so we had to wait for a while. Joyce, serene's friend, suggested going to have the best pies in the world, just round the corner, at a shop called "pie in the sky". it was simply delicious. considering how australia is more westernized where their food is concerned, the chicken tandoori and beef rendang were the best of the lot.

After polishing off the piping hot pies, we trooped off to miss marples. everyone have been raving about the place, well not everyone, just kelvin tan, so i am definitely looking forward to having their famous scones! so our first stop miss marples! just a litle background information on who miss marples is- she is a fictional character from agatha christie's novels, an eldery amateur detective, who often solve unsolved mysteries. i think the shop just borrowed her name cause inside it just look like a very nice, cosy place to have good lunch and tea. i think most of us felt like we were being transported to england, cause we were having a good cup of tea, with scones and fine english weather( gloomy and cold and wet).

after miss marples, we went to look at parrots. but me being afraid of virtually anything that moves refused to go near those birds. i only managed to look at them from afar. after bird watching, we headed to port melbourne. if you want to go to tasmania, this is where you catch the ferry from. Port melbourne is like the more sophiscated area, mainly the richer people live there. but i still like it there, very relaxed with clear blue skies and no rowdy, drunk aussies around. while sitting down, we were entertained by a group of boys who were doing circuit training kind of thing.

alrighty, i am going to cook lunch now. hungry.

the not-so-brief wonderful life

The reason why i chose this title is because i read the book called the brief wonderful like of oscar wao and i really loved it. up til now, the title of book has been embedded deeply into my mind. plus i like the ring to it and oscar the character had made such a huge impression on me. he is such a cute, fat, helplessly in love social misfit.

shuyi suggested that i should start a blog to encapsulate my "adventures" here in melbourne. that is what i will try to do, cause the thing with blogging is that after a while, the momentum dies off and the blog is left stagnant. i am not really having much of an adventure here, but i am slowly falling in love with the city of melbourne. though the weather has not been kind to me, other than that, i think melbourne is a place that grows on you. everyone is so relax-which drives me nuts sometimes- but other than that, it has a very laidback, coffee, sophiscated culture. it is like paris, but the relaxed version, you can be completely comfortable in your own skin.

i am looking forward to exploring the city with serene and sha sha.

i heart melbourne.
