On strike!

Housemate Des told me that he doesn't have school tomorrow.
cause the teacher's union is going on strike on thursday!
i thought... ooh cool... only such things happen at Melbourne Uni.
well i checked my email today and well, it seems like it is an entire melbourne thingy.
the content of the email....

"The strike action has been called by the NTEU in support of a new enterprise bargaining agreement for academic and general staff of theUniversity.

The strike is protected industrial action under theprovisions of the Workplace Relations Act 1996, and is a legitimate formof industrial action available to the NTEU in support of its enterprisebargaining claims.Students should be aware that this strike action may cause disruption to student classes on Thursday. However most scheduled lectures and tutorials will proceed. The University has not cancelled any activitiesand on the basis of the announced industrial action does not anticipate the need for the adoption of any special arrangements. Unless you havebeen advised by your lecturer or tutor that they intend to take industrial action and their class will not proceed, you should assume your lectureand/or tutorial will proceed as normal.

As part of the strike action students may also encounter industrial picket lines and associated traffic congestion (particularly around Claytoncampus) at the entrances to each campus. The NTEU have published adviceto their membership indicating that there will be picket lines atentrances to each Victorian campus of the University, commencing from asearly as 6:30am. It is likely picket lines will not be maintained after lunchtime."

makes no difference to me. i have no school on thursday. bleah. yawn.
