of orangutans and me
i am definitely not an animal lover.
but i do have a soft spot for the orangutans.
my research paper has forced me to drag my ass down to the zoo,
and i realised that,
i can just sit all day in front of their exibit at the zoo,
enjoying their company. (though i don't think they even give a shit about me. ha)
maybe it is their mild mannered ways,
or their sad intelligent eyes,
but i find them to be such alluring creatures.
i guess it is kind like a love at first sight kind of thing.
just that it is with an ape. haha (well, they did say that men kind of evolved from the great ape)
alot of my research has shown that most people are motivated by leisure to visit the zoo,
and that this comes into conflict with what the zoos see themselves as: which is an organization that places research and conservation at the heart.
most visitors end up not bringing home any of that conservation values, and thus comes the question of how effective are zoos in their perceived roles? is it necessary to even have zoos at all?
on my part, as an urbanised being the zoos did worked to some extent.
i fell in love with the orangutans.
